'Serviette' is chiefly a British term for ‘Napkin’ used throughout Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and South Africa. Its origin is French (Middle French), and its meaning comes from 'server' meaning, to serve. Serviette was founded as a service company that respects the unique history of aquarium exhibit design.
Throughout the years, some of the best aquarium designs were conceived on beer-stained cocktail napkins. Serviette is an embodiment of this culture through our practices which focus on premium service and fun during the design process.

Joseph M. Choromanski is the Head Consultant and President of Serviette, LLC an Aquarium Design and Curatorial Services Consultancy.
Joe recently retired from his position as Vice President of Husbandry for Ripley Entertainment in Orlando, a position he held for 17 years and still serves in an Emeritus capacity. In this position, Joe was in charge of animal care for Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; and Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada in Toronto, Ontario, and was heavily involved in new aquarium and exhibit development.
Joe is also still active in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and served on its prestigeous Accreditation Commission for nine years and is currently serving on the Government Affairs Committee. Joe was also a longstanding member and former chair of the Zoo and Aquarium Committee of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).
Prior to joining the Ripley’s Aquarium team in mid-1998, Joe was the Curator of Husbandry Operations at the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium in California. Joe previously also worked as the Assistant Director of Husbandry and Senior Curator of Water Quality and Animal Health at the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, Louisiana, and as the Curator at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, College of William and Mary, in Gloucester Point, Virginia.
Joe received his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from Bowling Green State University in Ohio in 1981. He received his Master of Science degree in Fisheries Biology from Oregon State University in 1985, focusing his research on fish physiology.
Joe is a recognized expert in animal husbandry with numerous published articles and has testified before the U.S. Congress on the conservation of sea turtles. Joe is a U.S.citizen.
